日六
Went to some extremely famous
locations on this day. The general area was the town of Nikko and the first
place we went after arriving in the town was the nearly combined shrines of
Futarasan and Toshou-gu, which date to the year 765. This location comprises
103 structures and is a world heritage site. I love how there all these well
crafter stone drainage channels all over the site, most had flowing water in
them which led to the whole area seeming like it was a water garden. However, ancient
structures no matter how famous or well-preserved they may be can only hold my
interest for so long. The real reason I went all the way out here (150km) was
to get a good look at Kegon Falls. This waterfall is considered one of the
three great waterfalls of Japan and is also one of the highest being over 300
feet high. I found it interesting that because the falls are at a relatively
high elevation compared to the town of Nikko the area around the falls is about
6 weeks behind Nikko in terms of seasonal temperature. In other words the trees
of Nikko put out their leaves six weeks earlier than the trees around the
falls. Even though the falls are only about 15 miles from Nikko, this mint that
being near the falls was like being in late March for me.
日光市はとてもきれいです。折り悪く, 日光市は遠です。華厳滝はすごいです。時間があったらいいのだが。
