One simple yet telling observations I have made on this trip is that in Japan there is no j-walking, none. it does not matter if a car is coming or not people simply will not cross the street if the walk sign is not lit up. Not so much the case at BSU.
Another thing is that there are no skyscrapers in Japan higher than 300 meters for (as far as I can tell) 2 reasons: for safety in case of an earthquake and building codes regulating how big of a shadow a building may cast on surrounding buildings. However they go and build the Sky Tree which is more than twice as tall as anything else in the whole city. So my question is how strong are those regulations really.
Oh, deer!

The deer can mess with you but you can't mess with the deer.

Shop built around a tree.

 Turtle recharging station.

My next home!

But first I have to get this guy to move out...

Hey dad, here is my version.

Those pagodas were 100 meters high!

Forbidden forest anyone!

Old Kyoto Imperial Palace.

Perfectly pruned pines everywhere!

Main palace gate.

Coronation hall.

One of the gardens.

A different garden.

Actual imperial residence.

Good to know.

Gardens at Nijo Castle

Many a field trip was taken that day.

Ah yes, there was this thing.

Anyway back to waterfalls.

Been wanting to see this one for a long time.

Saw many more ornate rooms than this at other palaces and temples but this was the first one I was allowed to take any pictures of.

Wheres #15?

My first Pocky!
