One simple yet telling observations I have made on this trip is that in Japan there is no j-walking, none. it does not matter if a car is coming or not people simply will not cross the street if the walk sign is not lit up. Not so much the case at BSU.
Another thing is that there are no skyscrapers in Japan higher than 300 meters for (as far as I can tell) 2 reasons: for safety in case of an earthquake and building codes regulating how big of a shadow a building may cast on surrounding buildings. However they go and build the Sky Tree which is more than twice as tall as anything else in the whole city. So my question is how strong are those regulations really.
