Going down the steps of our hotel in Kyoto I begin the most important journey of my trip.

After much time on the train I find myself here in a town called Toyosato.

It does not take long to realize that the spirit of Anime has a strong presence here.

Ahh... here we are! For an otaku this is one of the most revered and holy sites in the country.

The old Toyosato Primary School Building.

Now do you understand?

Tortoise and the Hair theme.

Ah, the auditorium, much anime history happened in this room.

And on this stage.

Old posters for celebrating the birthdays of characters from the show.

待つ!
(Watch the anime and you will get it.)

This is the new Toyosato Primary School building which was completed a few years ago. It is thanks to this that the old building is open to the public.

The holy of holies; the keion-bu clubroom itself.

Notes left by other pilgrims.

offerings left by other pilgrims.

View out the windows.

Jokes from the K-On! movie.

The tea sets.

Watch the first episode and you will understand why this made me lol.

All the name cards from the second season intro theme.

A reproduced shot from season 2 episode 20.

A collection of donated instruments to match those played by the characters in the show.

Oh, 憂いちゃん your dedication puts us all to shame.

Another gag from the anime brought to life.

And so I depart.

But I will be back.
